Preparing the Design/Logo for Printing:

The design needs to be separated – a process of pulling apart the design by color. A screen must be burned for each color in the design.  Our experienced artists will take care of this process if your art work in not all ready separated. Just give us a call and we can quickly assist with answering any questions you may have.

Dark colored garments require a base coat so the ink in the design will be vivid. (Much like painting a dark wall with lighter paint which requires a base coat of paint to cover the dark.)

The films are saved and kept on file for future orders but the screens are washed out and reused.  It would be virtually impossible regarding the space it would take to save every single screen.  To reorder the same design at a later date, the screen charge is half of what the initial charge is as the film is all ready created but the art still does need to be burned on to the screen(s). This is called a reset.

Screen Printing Specifications:

Minimum order:  12 pieces. Creating the screens is a labor intensive process. Doing less than 12 becomes cost prohibitive.

Preferred Turnaround Time: 10 Business days from customer approval, receipt of all pertinent information (colors, sizes, etc.) and receipt of a 50% deposit.  We can be flexible so please let us know if you need it sooner.  Rush charges may apply.

Estimates/Quotes: Valid for 30 days.

Screen Requirements:  A separate screen is needed for each color in the design and for each location. There is a charge for each screen required. Screens for reorders (reset) of the same design are half price.

Added Pieces:  Quantities cannot be changed within 5 days before an order is due as we have to allow time for ordering and shipping.  A new order needs to be created and re-set screen charges may apply.

Design/Art/Proofing Time:  Art charges may apply depending on the format of your artwork.  Call us and we can assist with estimates on your art set up and if any charges will apply. Upon completed art work, an email proof will be sent for final art approval. Multiple proofs may incur additional charges. Please refer to Artwork Requirements  for art specifications regarding acceptable formats. Or click on Services on the home page for the dropdown menu for Art Requirements.

Ways to save money screen printing:

*** Volume discounts – the more you order the less the cost per piece

*** Order light colored garments – darker garments require more ink and often a base coat of ink

*** Reduce number of colors used in your design –  a screen is required for each color

*** Limit print to one location –  a screen is required for each location

Screen printing is the process of pushing ink through a mesh screen one color at a time. The screen is a wooden or aluminum frame with a fine nylon mesh stretched over and attached to the screen frame.

The mesh is coated with a light sensitive emulsion which when dry will block the holes in the mesh to prevent ink from coming through the holes.

The image that needs to be printed is output to film by an image setter.  The film positive and the mesh coated in emulsion on the screen are sandwiched together and exposed to ultraviolet light.

The screen is then washed with a jet of water which washes away all the light sensitive emulsion that has not been hardened by the ultraviolet light.  This creates an open stencil which corresponds exactly to the image that was supplied on the film.

This process is referred to as “burning” a screen. Now the screen is fitted on the press and is hinged so it can be raised and lowered.

The garment to be printed is placed in position under the screen and ink is placed on the top side of the mesh on the screen.  A rubber squeegee is pulled across the top of the screen and pushes the ink through the open holes in the mesh onto the garment.

Contract printing is available, please call for pricing. (Business license required)
